Being of Service Promotes Wellness

the word hopeless with the less crossed off. HOPE.

Volunteering reduces stress, combats depression, and increases overall life satisfaction

Find Hope

In these challenging times, it's more important than ever for our community to come together. By donating our time, connecting with one another, and finding ways to be of service, we can cultivate hope and positivity that has immediate and long-lasting benefits for our individual and collective wellbeing.

Donate Your Time

Look for opportunities to volunteer in your local community. Whether it's serving meals at a food bank, cleaning up a neighborhood park, or tutoring children, giving your time is a powerful way to make a difference. Studies show that volunteering reduces stress, combats depression, and increases overall life satisfaction.

Reach out

Reach out to friends, family, and community members. Schedule virtual coffee dates, organize socially distanced outdoor gatherings, or simply give someone a call to check in. Strengthening our social connections is crucial for our mental health and can inspire hope during difficult periods.

Be of Service

Find ways, big or small, to be of service to others. Donate blood, check in on elderly neighbors, or organize a donation drive for a local charity. Acts of service trigger the release of oxytocin, a hormone that enhances feelings of trust, empathy, and positivity.

Be Resilient

Remember that even in the darkest of times, there is always reason for hope. Focus on the good you see in your community - the acts of kindness, the resilience, the people coming together to support one another. By shifting our mindsets, we can find the light, even when it's hard to see.

Join us in staying connected, being of service, and cultivating hope. Together, we can weather any storm and emerge stronger than before.

In the battle against homelessness in Los Angeles, there are countless unsung heroes. These are the volunteers, the community organizations, the faith groups, and the everyday citizens who have rolled up their sleeves and said, "Not in our city." These grassroots warriors are on the frontlines every day, providing food, shelter, support, and most importantly, hope to our unhoused neighbors.

But as the homelessness crisis has grown, so too has the realization that these scattered efforts, however heroic, are not enough. To truly make a dent in this issue, we need coordination.

We need collaboration. We need a network that can harness the collective power of all these individual efforts and turn it into a force for systemic change.

Enter SecondGrace.LA

SecondGrace.LA is a new kind of community, one uniquely suited to the challenges and opportunities of tackling homelessness in Los Angeles. At its core, it's a community organizing platform, a hub where the myriad groups and individuals working on this issue can come together to share resources, strategies, and support.

But it's also much more than that – it's a movement, a rallying cry for all Angelenos to get involved in the fight against homelessness.

SecondGrace.LA's power lies in its ability to amplify and coordinate the work already happening on the ground. It connects grassroots groups with each other and with the resources they need to thrive, providing a space for them to share their work, needs, and successes. It allows them to tap into a larger pool of volunteers, donors, and partners, and amplifies their stories and impact to a wider audience.

At the heart of SecondGrace.LA's model is the belief that the most effective solutions to homelessness will come from those closest to the problem. It's a belief in the power of local knowledge, local relationships, and local action.

By supporting and connecting grassroots efforts, SecondGrace.LA aims to build a movement that is both deeply rooted and broadly impactful, one that is tailored to the unique needs and assets of each community while also being part of a larger, citywide strategy.

This multi-level approach

Supporting local action while also advocating for systemic change – is what makes SecondGrace.LA so promising. It's a model that is both pragmatic and visionary, one that meets the immediate needs of those on the streets while also working towards a future where homelessness is rare, brief, and non-recurring.

Building this kind of movement is no easy task. It requires trust, collaboration, and a willingness to work across differences. It requires a commitment to the long haul, to showing up day after day, even when progress feels slow. But the grassroots heroes of Los Angeles have shown us that this kind of commitment is possible, and SecondGrace.LA builds on this dedication.

Realizing the potential of SecondGrace.LA will require the participation of us all. It will require us to see homelessness not as someone else's problem, but as our own. It will require us to step out of our comfort zones, to reach across boundaries, to contribute what we can.
